This high-end special follows historian Dan Cruickshank as he investigates the link between botany, biopiracy and empire.  It reveals how Britain's mastery of genetics, alongside the work of a series of brilliant and audacious plant collectors, became one of the great cornerstones of the British empire.

 

Timed to coincide with Kew Garden's 250th anniversary, the film takes us from west London to Brixton, India, Malaysia, Brazil and Singapore.
